Long EV road trips in Denmark
Denmark is small, and most trips need one charging stop at most. With a little planning, it is quick and cheap.
Leave home with a full battery
Charge at home before you set off. Home electricity is the cheapest, and with a full battery you can choose where to stop along the way.
Charge short and often
Charge to around 80%, and drive on until you have 15–20% left. Above 80% the car charges much more slowly, so two short stops are often quicker than one long one. Do not go below 10%. Then you have some slack if the charger is busy.
Choose stops by price
There are rapid chargers along every motorway. But prices range from 3.59 to 4.98 DKK/kWh with the nationwide providers. A stop a few kilometres off the motorway can save you a lot of money. The route planner in Elmer finds the cheapest stop based on your car and how much you need to charge.
